Gara Lead Climbing Day
Gara Gorge
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
The club are once again heading out to Gara Gorge for some entry level lead climbing. For those wanting to get out and try lead climbing for the first time or practice their outdoor climbing skills this is the event for you. This will be a great event if you are keen to come along to the Coffs Climbing trip later in the year, as this is an oppitunity to build confidence on outdoor climbs. The plan is to head out and try some entry level (grade 15-20 climbs) at Gara Gorge.  At this stage we plan to get back out to Hope (the same climbing location that we were at during the open day) and practicing lead climbing on routes that most new comers may have tried such as: Hubris, Cross Wired, Hope, Anticipation, Yuppie and Heavy Metal (one of my personal faves!). Have a look on the Crag (a website where you can view and search climbing routes) and check out some of these climbs. Alternatively, message the club if you have any climbs of particular interest that you would like to have a go at. The plan will be to meet at 8am to carpool (meeting location TBC), dependant on numbers and location of those registering to attend. Be prepared to be out for a decent day in the gorge and bring ~2 litres of water, snacks, lunch and layers. If you need climbing gear (such as harnesses, helmets and shoes) please message the club and we can arrange to supply gear. Hope to see you there, please reach out if you have any questions!
